The
conception of education and the graduate's profile in the scope of
the HOTEL TRADE AND TOURISM major. Graduates of this major will be
prepared to work in economic subjects and organizations dealing with
hotel industry and tourism. The aim and scope of stationary (mural)
and nonstationary (extramural) education of economists on a higher
professional level, within offered specializations, result from
several premises. One of them is a growing demand of tourist economy
and its subjects (mainly tourist enterprises) for highly qualified
specialists knowing the specifics of touristic services trade,
market rules of enterprises functioning, possessing knowledge from
the sphere of services marketing, being able to diagnose and create
a tourist market on which they act.
The
aim of studies on this major is:
•
gaining knowledge about functioning a market economy and behaviour
of the basic economic subject in conditions of strong internal and
external competition, with a particular regard to the specifics of
tourist trade (enterprises of tourist traffic organization and
service),
•
gaining and developing skills in diagnosing tourist markets
(international, national and regional) for qualification of target
markets (being a subject of interest of every tourist enterprise),
•
gaining knowledge and skills from the sphere of bases of tourist
enterprise management,
•
gaining skills in organizing and servicing different kinds of
touristic events as well as providing a wide variety of touristic
services offered by travel agencies and hotels,
•
gaining skills in independent creative thinking in categories of a
market success with simultaneous predicting economic consequences of
market activities,
•gaining skills in unconstrained socializing with people, based on
modern means of communicating (computer techniques), elements of
psychology as well as practical knowledge of foreign languages (that
is why there is the pressure on linguistic education).
The
college also offers, apart from the essential programme of studies,
learning two foreign languages on an advanced level: the English and
German languages and additionally one language on a basic level
(among: French, Spanish, Italian and Russian).
Moreover, in the frames of the studies programme, students complete
vocational training in hotels and travel agencies both in the
country and abroad. Students at practices in the firm PORTO CARRAS
GRAND RESORT and in the hotel net GRECOTEL (Greece) earn from 14 to
18 EURO a day and they have also free board and accommodation.
The
college has signed contracts about cooperation with 11 partner
higher schools.
We
also organize a course for tour guides and studio trips to
attractive for tourist countries (Italy, France, Great Britain), on
which students gain practical skills in professional organization of
touristic events.
Graduates of these majors can find employment in economic subjects
and organizations of touristic and agro-touristic trade or run their
own hotels and motels, boarding-houses, rest centres, campsites,
sanatoriums and health resorts, agro-touristic farms, and also
travel agencies in the country and abroad.
